#tbt to last summer! I had just been diagnosed with #t1d in the spring and left my job shortly after. I spent a lot of time working on my sculptures, learning about my illness, visiting doctors, going to therapy, and building the perfect résumé (really, I spent like 4 months on that thing!) Because of her open call for models, I connected with Gabriela Mendez who shot these photos. I also met MaryV and Chella in the process since the shoot was in their home. I’m glad to have met these talented, thoughtful artists during this summer of slow growth and self-discovery.
